Cordell ASR Technology awarded prestigious Water Industry Project

Cordell ASR Technology is pleased to announce they have been appointed as the Main Systems Integrator by Black & Veatch for the United Utilities Davyhulme Wastewater Treatment Works Sludge Balanced Asset Programme project in Urmston, Manchester.

This important green energy project will enhance one of the UK’s largest wastewater treatment works by maximising the use of a valuable source of renewable energy. The benefits of a major upgrade at Davyhulme include increasing the generation of electricity from biogas and the provision of a sustainable source of soil improver.

Improvements will double sludge treatment capacity and process biosolids to such a high standard that they have the potential to be reused as fertiliser. The project will also increase production of biogas which can be used in a combined heat and power plant to generate up to 9 megawatts of electricity. This will provide the electricity and steam required for running the new treatment process and any surplus fed into the National Grid.

The systems integration scope encompasses the design, control panel construction, DCS configuration and commissioning support for the new Siemens PCS7 DCS system to be employed on this project to control the new sludge treatment plant and part of the existing sludge treatment works.
